[by Lee Hye Jeong] Korean Wave. It refers to the craze for Korean pop culture, which began in Asia in the late 1990s. It refers to the phenomenon of Korean pop culture gaining popularity as Korean TV dramas are exported to China and the following Korean songs are known.
The craze for Korean pop culture is not just across Southeast Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and the Philippines. With BTS gaining global popularity, Korean Wave has spread beyond Southeast Asia to the English-American region, becoming an era where people with blond hair and blue eyes are enthusiastic about Korean culture.
The Korean Wave, which was restricted to popular culture, has gradually expanded into the medical field. There are a lot of people visiting for surgery in Korea, known for their excellent medical skills.
When Korean Wave enjoyed its popularity, more and more foreigners are coming to Korea and enjoying a variety of Korean culture, food, and products. But it is not easy for them to select the medical area. Moving far to Korea, receiving medical treatment from other countries with language barrier make them hesitate.
However, if they decide it is better to visit Korea and receive medical services such as treatment, surgery when considering various circumstances, then the answer is to visit a hospital that is most suitable for me among many Korean hospitals.
From a foreigner's perspective, the most reliable factor in selecting a hospital in another country is the certification by the country's government. It is natural that the satisfaction and stability of surgery is more reliable when selecting the hospital certified by governmental authority rather than relying on someone's recommendation or user’s comments that can be found on the Internet.
In this regard, JK Plastic Surgery located in Apgujeong-dong, the center of Korea, has regained the certification of the Korean Accreditation Program for Hospitals Serving Foreign Patients (KAHF) by government (Ministry of Health and Welfare), which is the splendid achievement.
KAHF, which was acquired twice by JK Plastic Surgery Clinic, was created with the purpose to enhance global competitiveness and reliability by evaluating and designating medical institutions that provide excellent services and safe treatment environments for foreign patients. The evaluation criteria included the foreign patient specialization system and patient safety system such as continuous attracting and management of foreign patients, coping with safety guarantees and emergency situations, and infection control. JK Plastic Surgery obtained a certain level of scores in all the required items.
JK Plastic Surgery Clinic certified by the Korean government is visited by patients from more than 100 countries, and more than 70% of all patients are overseas patients. The hospital has conducted differentiated operation by designing operating rooms and establishing patient safety systems.
In addition, a coordinator who has a nationality of the relevant language or who is fluent as a native language will be assigned 1:1. They have international medical tourism coordinator certification or have passed certain qualification such as working for more than one year in international medical care.
